Pingyao is one of China’s three well-preserved ancient cities (the other two are Xi’an and Jingzhou). （平遙是中國現存最好的三座古城之一）Lying in the middle of Shanxi Province, 90 kilometers south of Taiyuan, Pingyao ancient city used to be about two hours’ drive from the capital of Shanxi Province. With the completion（完成） of a free way construction, the distance is shortened to one hour and ten minutes’ drive only. With a history of over 2,700 years, the ancient city stands out （以...聞名）as one of the best preserved of all the walled cities in China. On December 3, 1997, UNESCO(聯合國教科文組織) added Pingyao into the World Heritage(遺產) List as a world’s culture heritage.（遺產） According to the UNESCO’s World Heritage Commission,（委員會） the Pingyao ancient city is a wonderful example of the Chinese Han cities during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
